    Maple Syrup Festival 2012!
This cultural experience will awaken your senses!
What’s the buzz echoing throughout our fine city? It sounds like French anthills running on triple expresso coffee. Nous voilà! All the Francophones in our valley are talking about the famous ‘Sugar Shack’, maple syrup pull and strange stories about maple syrup running and trees that spew forth that syrup. But what are they saying?

First, you need to understand what those Francophones are saying. So, why not come celebrate with us first hand? Bring your children, parents, cousins, friends and neighbours and come immerse yourselves in Francophone culture on March 3 and 4, 2012.

On Saturday March 3, 2012, come dance to the rhythm of Francophone World Music, with DJ Éric Lenger from ‘C’est extra Vancouver’. After playing for Vancouverites with his driving mixes, it will be Kelowna’s turn to dance the night away to music from all the Francophone regions in the world. That evening will be filled with surprises and energy that will get all ages, from 20 to 77, on their feet and dancing. From reggae to rock’n roll, including pop, DJ Éric Lenger will be honoured to get the crowd rockin’.

On March 4, 2012, everyone is invited to come experience the famous cabane à sucre/sugar shack on the l’Anse-au-sable school grounds. Included are a traditional Cabane à sucre/Sugar shack breakfast, maple syrup pull, activities for the children, the creation of group visual arts and Francophone musical performances will allow everyone to experience this cultural event in which so many French-Canadians participate every year. Do not miss this family event especially! You will not have any time to be bored, we guarantee! Your senses will be awakened. And who knows, perhaps the next time you hear the buzzing of Francophones telling stories about the cabane à sucre/sugar shack, you will also have your story to tell, complete with a few French words that you will have learned this time around!

The Maple Syrup Festival 2012 is presented by the Okanagan Francophone Cultural Centre in partnership with the City of Kelowna, Heritage Canada, BC Gaming and the Francophone Cultural and Artistic Council of British Columbia.

The Francophone Evening of World Music hosted by DJ Éric Lenger will take place on March 3, 2012, in the magnificent hall at the CCFO, located at:  702 Bernard Avenue, beginning at 9 pm.

The Cabane à sucre/Sugar shack will take place on March 4, 2012, on the l’Anse-au-sable school grounds, at 675 Lequime Road, from 12 pm noon to 4 pm.

Fun for one and all, guaranteed!

We hope you can join us and share in our culture!
