francoishouleFrancois Houle is an incredible musician who reinvents the clarinet by creating a tapestry of rich sounds and textures through a dazzling array of extended techniques melded with electronics. Houle is “a spectacularly versatile clarinetist who appears to have no limitations stylistically or sonically”, said Mark Swed of the LA Times.

Houle will be joined by local avant-garde saxophonist Darren Williams. Pushing the boundaries of improvisation and instrumental technique to dizzying limits, live Williams has been acclaimed as “more fun than spiked punch” (The Georgia Straight).

Performed at the Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art (in the Rotary Centre for the Arts), the Skin and Bones Concert Series will launch September 27. Doors open at 7:30 and the performance will be begin at 8:00. Admission is $10 for public and $8 for Alternator members. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Alternator or at the door.
