Ballet Kelowna closes its 2015/16 Season with an unparalleled mixed programme of live music and contemporary ballet from some of Canada’s finest choreographers and composers in RenaissanceApril 29 & 30, 2016 at the Kelowna Community Theatre, and at Oliver’s Frank Venables Theatre, May 1, 2016. Ballet Kelowna’s extreme athleticism and depth of emotion will be on full display in two imaginative world premieres from award-winning choreographer Heather Myers and Ballet Kelowna Artistic Director and CEO Simone Orlando. Also on the programme, James Kudelka’s Byrd Music balances technical precision and expressive musicality, while John Alleyne’s energetic Split House Geometric makes its Kelowna premiere. Rounding out the programme is the anticipated B.C. debut of The National Ballet of Canada rising stars Hannah Fischer and Ethan Watts, whose technical precision and lyrical aesthetic will mesmerize audiences in the duet, The Wild Space Between Two Hearts, and a new solo for Fischer, both choreographed by The National Ballet’s Choreographic Associate Robert Binet. Toronto’s award-winning Continuum Contemporary Music will further amplify performances through live accompaniment, performing famous early music compositions from the Renaissance period, along with newly commissioned works.
