On Thursday, April 21 Dr. Kenna MacKenzie of the Pacific Agri-Research Centre in Summerland will talk about “Pollinators and Farming in the Okanagan.”  Dr. MacKenzie is the Associate Director, Research, Development, and Technology at the Summerland Research and Development Centre of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC).  She worked as a AAFC scientist in Kentville, Nova Scotia in Entomology focusing on pollination and insect management of fruit crops and has a PhD is in entomology from Cornell University.  She has published over forty academic papers on  agricultural entomology and plant sciences, many on the pollination of blueberries and other fruit crops.

This is the eighth talk of “The Pollinizing Sessions: A Series of Talks and Workshops to Learn About Pollinators in Our Community,” a project of the Okanagan Regional Library and a UBC Okanagan research project, The Public Art Pollinator Pastures Project. The talk will be held at the downtown Kelowna branch of the Okanagan Regional Library, 1380 Ellis St. Kelowna from 7 pm – 8:30 pm. Admission is free.
