Celebrate Culture Days at the Kelowna Art Gallery on Saturday, October 1st from 10 am – 4 PM.  Did you know many solitary bees and other insects live in bee hotels all over the world? As part of our installation For All is For Yourself, come help us build a home for pollinators and pest controllers by helping us fill fruit boxes with pinecones and bricks, by drilling holes and creating places for these friendly insects to live in.   This Bee Hotel be placed permanently on site at Brent’s Grist Mill Heritage site as part of Culture Days and The Kelowna Public Art Pollinator Project. Our designer Evan Hutchinson will be installing the boxes created and he’ll be at the gallery on Saturday.   Admission is free and everyone is welcome.   This is a family-friendly event.

Also, from 1:30 – 2:30 on October 1, we’ll be celebrating the Pollinator Poetry Post with readings from the Pollinator Poetry Contest winners.  This will be an open mic event and anyone is invited to come and read their pollinator poetry!

This event is part of Kelowna’s Culture Days celebrations and is part of the programming attached to the gallery exhibition For All is For Yourself (FAIFY).  FAIFY aims to raise interest and awareness of the plight of native pollinators in British Columbia (and across the country). This collaborative artwork was produced with the support of over 100 individuals across Kelowna, Richmond and Vancouver who assisted in creating the hand-made seed paper that was transformed into the 10,000 bumblebees on the gallery walls. The show will be up in the Front Space of the Kelowna Art Gallery from June 20 – October 9th 2016.
