Heather Leier presents Hide and Seek: Revisited, a look into spaces that we all may have occupied in childhood. Referencing blanket forts and under-the-stair cupboards, the artist explores the balance of darkness and magic in liminal spaces, and brings into question our relationships to the imaginary, reality, memory, and identity. In her practice, Leier is informed by her own anxious perception of the past and twenty-first century life, and seeks to create spaces where viewers can physically and emotionally enter that induce feelings of uncertainty, nostalgia, vulnerability, and wonder whilst providing moments of pause and contemplation. Leier graduated with a BFA from UBCO in 2012 and MFA from the University of Alberta. She has exhibited throughout BC, Alberta and internationally.
