The Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre Society proudly presents Chase Padgett’s Six Guitars on Tuesday, October 20 2015 starting at 7:30pm. Six Guitars is the first show in our 2015/16 Theatre Series.
Masterful storyteller and captivating entertainer Chase Padgett delivers a virtuosic performance as he portrays six different guitar players. Blues, Jazz, Rock, Classical, Folk and Country, each distinctive character shares humourous and heartfelt songs and stories about how they fell in love with music. As these six individuals express their views and what they think of other genres, Padgett reveals how music brings us all together.
Six Guitars toured North America and beyond after being developed in New York during a two month run. With music from multiple genres, elements of stand-up comedy and musical improvisation this 90 minute performance is packed full of fun for audiences of any age or background.
Directed by Jay Hopkins and written by both Padgett and Hopkins, Six Guitars has earned numerous awards, rave reviews and standing ovations all over North America since premiering in 2010. Relentlessly selling out houses in every festival it has appeared in, Six Guitars won Pick of the Fringe for both Edmonton and Vancouver and is one of the top 5 highest grossing acts in the history of the Winnipeg Fringe Festival.
Padgett graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and has worked as a full time actor and musician ever since. In 2014 he became the artist in residence at the Curious Comedy Theatre in Portland, Oregon and recently performed in a sketch comedy showcase for top executives at NBC.

Chase has performed internationally, developed other solo shows and has been in several national commercials. also loves live looping, a technique of recording live vocals and guitar and arranging them on the fly to create new compositions.
During this 90-minute performance, each of the 6 characters play songs from their genre while telling the story of how the fell in love with their music, what they think of other styles of music and what music means to us all.
Jay has been directing, acting, writing and improvising professionally since 1988. He has a BFA in Acting and Directing from UNC-Greensboro. In 1992 he joined SAK Theatre in Orlando, FL and became a member of the Core Ensemble, a Creative Producer and the Head of Education for several years. In 2004 with his wife Diana, he formed Jester Theater where he has performed in or directed several shows over the company’s seven seasons, including A Tuna Christmas, Moonlight and Magnolias, Noises Off and the Southeast premiere of The Musical of Musicals: The Musical. In 2008, Samuel French, Inc. published his play The Iliad, The Odyssey and All of Greek Mythology in 99 minutes or less which is currently being performed all around the US.
With ample music from multiple genres as well as elements of stand-up comedy and musical improvisation there truly is something for everyone in Six Guitars.
