Séan McCann, acclaimed singer-songwriter and JUNO Award nominee is hitting the road for his first official tour as a solo artist. The You Know I Love You Tour begins September 18 in Quebec City and takes McCann through Ontario and western Canada. McCann is touring to support tracks off his “You Know I Love You Collection of Songs” that was released over the summer, one track a week for 10 weeks. This tour will be McCann’s first since leaving the hugely popular folk band Great Big Sea in 2013.
Recorded in early 2015 at the New Scotland Yard Studio in Dartmouth NS, with acclaimed artist/producer Joel Plaskett, the You Know I Love You Collection of Songs boasts 10 original, upbeat tracks written by McCann, including “This Life is an Ocean of Love,” “Set Me Free”, and “Little Miss Know-It-All” available now on seanmccannsings.com and iTunes. This project marks the second time that McCann has worked with Plaskett on a solo undertaking.
As an added bonus for audiences, the Séan McCann Songbook Volume 1: You Know I Love You will be available at all venues for $25. This includes a CD of all new tracks with lyrics, as well as beautiful illustrations of each song by singer/songwriter Meaghan Smith. CDs of the You Know I Love You Collection of Songs will also be available for $10.
“The past two years have been ripe with reflection and redemption and new songs have begun to grow again from my opened heart,” said McCann. “I am doing the work and am now ready to share what I am learning with the world. This life is an ocean of love…let every heart rise above.”
McCann shot to international fame as a founding member of the renowned Newfoundland group Great Big Sea. After millions of albums sold, countless hit songs, and record-breaking tours around the world, McCann realized music had become something he was hiding behind. In January 2014, McCann released his first solo album. Produced by Plaskett, Help Your Self helped him deal with his issues of addiction and abuse, showing him there is strength in pain. His journey to find his own peace, love, and happiness continues through his new music. His latest work, the You Know I Love You Collection of Songs is cheerful in tone and lyrics, and sung by an artist intent on sharing his joy directly with his audience. His first solo tour has McCann touring the country as a solo artist in intimate venues where he can connect with his audience in the way he had always hoped. McCann has also found himself using music as therapy, working with people who face physical, mental, and addiction challenges, and has become a sought after speaker trying to help others find light during difficult times. As a completely solo artist – no label, manager, no booking agent – he controls every aspect of his career as well as his destiny…and that’s the way he likes it.
The You Know I Love You Tour kicks off in in Quebec City on September 18. Tickets can be purchased on seanmccannsings.com now.
Sean is in Kelowna Nov 7th at Streaming Cafe.
