Live Music at the Lake Country Art Gallery Saturday, July 4th
Art & Music, a beautiful combination. The Lake Country Art Gallery welcomes its second music event to the gallery on Saturday July 4th at 7pm: Tim & Tay, with Angelica Thrift.
Tim & Tay are Tim Osborne and Taylor Thomas. Osborne is a feisty punker with roots in the local music scene. Thomas, who hales from California, has a voice compared to Adlele and Norah Jones. Working together on the front lines of a local restaurant brought these two musicians together. In attempt to lay down a quick recording of a Mumford and Sons song, it was very quickly realized that these musical souls belonged together. Tim & Tay weaves together rock and romance, punk acoustic beats and soaring vocals. Opening for Tim & Tay is Angelica Thrift, a young singer / songwriter from Vernon.
“We’ve long wanted to bring music into the gallery. I think it presents the perfect combination of appreciation and engagement with live music, as well as the perfect opportunity for prolonged art viewing,” comments Gallery Curator Katie Brennan.
In April, the gallery hosted My Friend West, a Victoria based band, as the Okanagan stop in their tour of Western Canada. This first venture into presenting live music in the gallery was well received and the gallery plans to continue to offer other music events periodically in the future.
This concert also coincides with the last day of “Appearing & Fading – art as exploration”, an exhibition that features the work of local artists Connor Charlesworth, Sarah Cordeaux, Steve Mennie, Stephanie Patsula and Riley Wallis. Also, earlier that day, the Lake Country Art Gallery will host the third installment of the Lake Country Arts Bazaar, an outdoor vintage, artists and artisanal wares fair from 9am – 2pm.
Tim & Tay will play at the Lake Country Art Gallery on Saturday, July 4th at 7pm; with Angelica Thrift opening. Tickets are $15, $10 for students / seniors. Tickets are available through the Lake Country Art Gallery. Please call or email to reserve your tickets – 250-766-1299 / lakecountryartgallery@shaw.ca.
