LEVITE SUMMIT, A WORSHIP AND ARTS CONFERENCE 

RETURNS TO KELOWNA FOR ITS THIRD YEAR  

On March 6-7, Hear the Music Ministries, together with local church partners, are bringing Levite Summit to Kelowna for its third consecutive year. Hosted at Trinity Church, this year the 2-day conference is featuring award-winning worship artist Brian Doerksen as the keynote speaker, along with more than 20 music and arts specialists brought on board to lead an exciting and educational weekend of breakout sessions.

Aimed at ‘Levites’, those who are passionate about using their gifts and talents to serve within and outside the church, the weekend conference, has been strategically designed to encourage, equip and inspire its attendees in the areas of worship arts through keynote speakers, breakout sessions and other training opportunities.

Local musician and Vernon Alliance worship pastor, Jon Buller first had the idea for the Levite Summit five years ago after recognizing a need for musical and arts training within the Okanagan Valley. “How can we serve the Valley? And how can Christian artists, leaders and artisan leaders be helped, equipped and trained?” It was in answering those two key questions that the Levite Summit was born.

Levite Summit is a two-day worship and arts conference offering large group keynote sessions, topic-specific breakout sessions and the opportunity to network with other artists and artisans. Each attendee will be treated to music from the Levite band and a keynote session on Friday night, and a full day of breakout sessions (of their choice), keynote addresses and a finale concert from Brian Doerksen and his band the Shiyr Poets on Saturday night.

New this year, Juno and Covenant award-winning Christian worship artist Brian Doerksen, will be leading a keynote session and performing a finale concert (open to the public) with his band The Shiyr Poets. Described by Buller as a “faithful Levite”, Doerksen will be able to “combine his skill for giving great concerts and worship leading with his ability to teach, train and equip.” Doerksen, renowned Canadian worship artist out of Abbotsford, has made his mark on the Christian/Gospel music scene since the early 1980’s with hit songs that have been used in churches and religious circles around the world.  Known for his songwriting prowess, Doerksen has also spent the last few decades as a public speaker, pastor, author and most recently, professor at Prairie Bible Institute.  Most notably, his works include ‘Come, Now is the Time to Worship’, ‘Hope of the Nations’, ‘Faithful One’, ‘Hallelujah (Your Love is Amazing)’, and ‘The River’.

Buller and his team are excited to bring the Levite Summit once again to the Valley in hopes that everyone will leave inspired with new ideas, feeling refreshed and renewed.
