I am Woman Hear Me Laff 11 featuring headliner Erica Sigurdson
The Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre proudly presents I am Woman Hear Me Laff 11 on Sunday, March 8th at 8:00pm at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre.
Leo award winning comedian Erica Sigurdson headlines our 11th annual celebration of International Women’s day. Over the course of her 10 year career in comedy, Sigurdson has been twice nominated for Best Female Standup in Canada, and was a semi-finalist in the Seattle International Comedy Competition.
Nationally recognized as one of Canada’s top comedic talents, Sigurdson is a frequent guest on CBC Radio’s smash hit The Debaters, appearing a record 29 times. She is also featured on CBC Radio’s The Current and Definitely Not the Opera. In 2013 alone, Sigurdson was invited to perform at The Vancouver Comedy Festival, The Winnipeg Comedy Festival, The Halifax Comedy Festival and the world famous Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal.
In this stand-up comedy extravaganza, Master of Cemeronies Katie-Ellen Humphries returns to the stage with her sharp wit, inventive imagination and cavernous dimples. Vancouver-based comedians Alicia Tobin and Brynn Peebles will also be on hand for this ‘herlarious’ occasion in honour of International Women’s Day.
Alicia Tobin started performing stand up in 2007 and now has her own show called Alicia Tobin’s Come Draw With Me. She’s fun to talk to at parties, but her gluten intolerance usually has her busily hovering around cheese plates protectively. She finds the natural world both beautiful and distracting, and finds particularly beautiful squirrels a perfectly good reason to miss the bus to work.
Brynn Peebles is a Vancouver born and based comedian, actor and sketch comedy writer. She is a regular performer at Vancouver’s Premiere standup comedy club (The Comedy Mix) where she has had the opportunity to open for such seasoned professionals as Caroline Rhea (Sabrina the Teenage Witch, The Caroline Rhea show), Lachlan Patterson (NBC’s Last Comic Standing, Comedy Central’s Tosh.0), and Andy Hendrickson (The Late Show with David Letterman). Peebles was also selected to perform in 2014’s Northwest Comedy Fest and just finished touring her Sketch Comedy show, ‘SNAP’ at the Edmonton Fringe. She has yet to make her parents proud with her career choice.
