A Christmas Carol
New Vintage Theatre is pleased to announce that their popular version of Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol will be playing at Creekside Theatre in Lake Country from Dec.17-21.
While audiences that attended last year’s production can again expect a version of the play that remains faithful to Dickens’ original tale, complete with costumes, mysterious effects and song, this year a few new faces have been added to the cast. Ray Mordan, who played Jacob Marley in the play last year, takes on the iconic role of Scrooge-a role he has dreamed of for some time and Brad Hull, another popular local actor, will be playing Cratchit. The new cast also includes CBC Radio’s Arts Reporter Gillianne Richards, well known young British actor Joe Welton as well as Cory Armour and Colm O’reilly who were last seen in NVT’s The Bone House. “Awesome Girl” actress Bailey Strand takes on the role of Belle, Young Scrooge’s love interest.
Returning actors include Kelowna favorites Ashley Plomp, Aletha Currie, Ruby Bullock-Spitz and Terry Scott as well as young actors Hailey Sabourin, Anika Hodgson, Evan Jackson and Klaya Stock who play the Cratchit children.
Director Bonnie Gratz says this about the exciting remount, “I rarely return to a show I have previously directed. It is only when I really love the play that go back and direct it again. This play is unique in that it is a special part of the holiday season. So many people thanked us last year for putting them in the Christmas spirit and we look forward to showing it again-now on the beautiful Creekside stage.”
Now in Creekside Theatre, complete with wonderful sightlines, better sound and a grander set and stage; audiences attending this year’s show will be treated to a plush, welcoming holiday experience.
Few tales take us on a journey like the one audiences will watch Scrooge encounter. It is a thrilling, scary, funny and a times sad story; but most of all it is heartwarming and an important reminder that a true life lived is one that is shared with our community, friends and family. The show is perfect for all ages.
