RICHARD O’BRIEN’S ~ THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW

THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW

October 28TH – 31ST AT THE IPE FAIRGROUNDS’ HORTICULTURE BUILDING

Remember your first time?

It began as an experimental production at London’s Royal Court Theatre in June of 1973, and went on to become a massive underground hit and international pop culture phenomenon. The Rocky Horror show is an outrageous assemblage of the most stereotyped science fiction movies, Marvel comics, Frankie Avalon/Annette Funicello outings and rock n’ roll of every vintage. Running through the story is the sexual confusion of two middle American kids confronted by the complications of the decadent morality of the 70s, represented in the person of the mad “doctor” Frank N Furter, a transvestite from the planet Transsexual in the galaxy of Transylvania. And now, as part of its record-setting kick-off premiere season, Big Apple Productions is proud to revive this wild evening of interactive fun. This sexy rock n’ roll classic with music, lyrics, and book by Richard O’Brien is directed by Neal Facey, with musical direction by Melina Moore and live band Half a Quorum. COME UP TO THE LAB AND SEE WHAT’S ON THE SLAB!

The show follows the weird and wonderful adventure of the newly engaged Janet (Vicki Proulx) and Brad (Craig Howard), who find themselves lost on a cold, rainy night. The madcap, musical mayhem begins when the couple takes refuge in the castle of Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Sun FM’s Brian Martin), a transvestite who is hosting the annual convention of visitors from the planet, Transsexual. Frank-N-Furter unveils his creation, a muscular young man named Rocky Horror (Don Cecile) who fears the doctor and rejects his advances. When Frank-N-Furter announces that he is returning to the galaxy Transylvania, Riff Raff, the butler (Michael Gairns), Magenta, his sister (Susan Evans) and Columbia (Tanya Lipscomb), the maid, declare that they have plans of their own.

Rocky Horror’s star-studded cast also includes the local talents of Judy Rose (Usherette), Peter Byrnes (Narrator), Alexander Patterson (Eddie/Dr. Scott) and an ensemble of sensual, sinful Transylvanians. Choreographed by Lisa Schofield of Diversity Dance, costume design by Sue Gairns, set design by Jo Dixon, lighting design by Jessika LaFramboise and hair & make-up by Jessica Nicole Studio.LET’S DO THE TIME WARP AGAIN!
