Morning Melodies – Rebecca Wenham

The Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre Society proudly presents Rebecca Wenham on Tuesday, October 7th 2014 at 10:00am at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre.

Morning Melodies is a series of intimate classical music concerts taking place on select Tuesday mornings. Each event begins at 10:00am with coffee, tea, treats and a chance to chat with the musicians, followed by a 70-minute concert at 10:30am.

Violinist Rebecca Wenham joins series host Sarah Hagen to kick off the 2014/15 Morning Melodies series. Described as a musical force of nature, Wenham has performed throughout North America, Mexico, Europe, Japan and Australia.

Wenham has been received numerous awards for her musical prowess, and was awarded the CBC Galaxie Rising Star Award in 2007. While performing as part of the Cecilia String Quartet from 2004 to 2010, she received the first prize and Melpomene prize at the Rutenberg Chamber Music Competition, the commissioned prize at the Bordeaux International Quartet Competition, and both first prize and the Canadian Commissioned Prize at the 10th Banff International String Quartet Competition.

Over the course of her 12 years as a performer, Wenham has performed and collaborated with musicians and composers across Canada. Her interest in different styles of music has prompted her to perform a wide variety of music including classical, jazz, persian and punk rock, promising a diverse and entertaining morning of music. “It’s always a blast to play with Sarah” says Wenham, “We’re really looking forward to coming up.”
