Vernon Dance Series Subscriptions on Sale Now!
The Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre Society proudly announces the launch of our 2014/15 Dance Series. This series of five shows continues the Performing Arts Centre Society’s tradition of offering world-class dance shows at an excellent price.
The Society’s 2014/15 Dance series kicks off with Tango: Passion of a Lifetime on Saturday, October 18th 2014 at 8:00pm. Discover the love story of the tango with the Romulo Larrea Ensemble and vocalist Verónica Larc in this intimate presentation combining live music and dance.
On Friday November 21st at 7:30pm, Ballet Victoria (Cinderella and the Fairy Tale Ball) returns to the Performing Arts Centre with their spine-chilling performance of Dracula. Be prepared to be seduced and bitten with dramatic dance taken to a whole new level.
The series continues in 2015 on Friday February 20th at 7:30pm with Atlantic Ballet Theatre’s Piaf. Shrouded in mystery, love and tragedy, Edith Piaf’s life-inspired songs are the backdrop for the Atlantic Ballet’s exceptional dancers. Abandoned by her mother at birth, Édith Piaf became one of the greatest singers in France, and is regarded by many as France’s national diva.
Kaha:wi Dance Theatre takes the stage on Saturday, March 28 at 7:30pm with TransMigration, a visually raw exploration of the vision, struggles and brilliance of shaman-artist Norval Morrisseau. Vibrating with colour and energy, TransMigration is a reflection of humanity and the power of spirit to transform and transcend.
The Society’s 2014/15 Dance series concludes on Tuesday, April 14 2015 at 7:30pm with Compagnie Käfig’s Brasil. Featuring choreography from France and Brazil, 11 male dancers offer a stunningly physical dance performance blending hip-hop, capoeira, samba, martial arts, and acrobatics.
