The concept for the Kelowna Art Gallery’s Appetite for Art Fundraiser is to combine a celebration of the best in local cuisine with works of art that guests can purchase and take home. Now guests can preview the thirty-five works of art available at the gala evening through a special online exhibition at www.kelownaartgallery.com.

Appetite for Art will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014, from 7 to 10 pm, with funds raised supporting educational and children’s programming at the Gallery.

New this year are twenty small shadow box works of art commissioned by local artists specifically for the event. Guests will purchase these by silent bidding. In addition, fifteen larger pieces have been donated by artists for sale at set prices that reflect the fair-market value of each work. Each of these artists were offered the option of receiving 50% of the sale price of their piece.

“Our new approaches for the art offered this year at Appetite for Art is something we are proud of,” says Kelowna Art Gallery Executive Director, Nataley Nagy. “We wanted to take a lead in being supportive of the artists who generously contribute works to our fundraisers.”

The artists who have contributed or created works for the fundraiser include: Kelsie Balehowsky, Lynden Beesley, Rose Braun, Amy Burkard, Connor Charlesworth, Rod Charlesworth, Aunaray Clusiau, Mark Coffey, Briar Craig, Jan Crawford, Jane Everett, Alex Fong, Dan Goehring, John Hall, Erika Hawkes, Fern Helfand, Byron Johnstad, Heather Leier, Wanda Lock, Hanss Lujan, Jolene Mackie, Debra Martin, Sue McCarrell, Mary Smith McCulloch, Joanne McKechnie, Yvonne Morrish, Kathryn Newell, Joanne Onrait, Kyle L. Poirier, Janice Sich, Kristine Sloan, Leanne Spanza, Lynn Tribe, Rena Warren, and Laura Widmer.

Attendees will also enjoy complimentary gourmet offerings created by Waterfront Wines, Joy Road Catering, Poppadoms, and Sugar Sweet Cupcakes, paired with tastings from Mission Hill Family Estate, Quail’s Gate Winery, Tree Brewing, Blue Mountain Vineyards, and Okanagan Spirits.
