The Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre Society proudly presents Boeing-Boeing on Thursday, November 7th at 7:30pm at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre. Boeing Boeing is the second of five shows in the Society’s 2013/14 Theatre series.

The Arts Club Theatre Company, now celebrating its 50th season, is the largest theatre company in Western Canada. The excitement continues on November 7th as this dynamic company brings Boeing Boeing to the Vernon stage after sold-out performances of Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story and A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline.

Set in swinging sixties Paris, Boeing Boeing is a farcical play about lies, love, and relationships. Bernard, a successful architect, is even more successful with the ladies. In fact, he juggles the hearts of three air hostesses who jet in and out of his groovy bachelor pad: Gloria, Gabriella, and Gretchen-aka “America,” “Italy,” and “Germany.” Since the three of them work for different airlines, they are kept apart by the precision of the airline timetable. However when Boeing introduces a faster jet, Bernard’s three fiancés invariably end up at his apartment at the same time, and his precise romantic timetable descends into chaos.

While the play itself was originally written over 50 years ago, Boeing Boeing is just as entertaining today. “The structure of this farce puts the characters in comic situations that remain ludicrously funny today” says director David Mackay. “For all our incredible social and technological advancements made over the past fifty years, a good farce can exemplify that quality in human nature that for every step forward there’s a banana peel to take us two steps back.”

With its cast of over the top characters and broad physical comedy, Boeing Boeing offers a hysterical evening of theatrical farce for those not expecting a profound message or moral statement from a play dubbed “a mile-high comedy”.
