KELOWNA, BC – The Kelowna Community Theatre and KeyNote Productions are excited to present a pairing of excellence with Juno-nominated musician and Sommelier in training, Royal Wood on Thursday, October 10 as part of the Okanagan Fall Wine Festival.

Royal Wood, a Canadian singer-songwriter, launched his successful career with an EP in 2003. Having grown up surrounded by music, Royal became well-versed in a variety of musical styles and instruments and began performing for audiences at a young age. Born and raised just outside of Peterborough, Ontario, Royal took advantage of school music programs to hone his musical craft and find his voice as a songwriter.

Producing, writing, arranging and performing on his first solo EP, Royal quickly gained recognition for his unique style and outstanding musicianship being compared to Tom Waits, Randy Newman and Jeff Buckley. Following the success of his début EP, Royal set out to create an acclaimed pop album for his full-length début. In 2004, Royal released Tall Tales which was met with high praise for his clever lyrics and layered vocal arrangements. Since his début, Royal has gone on to produce three more albums including his recent release of We Were Born to Glory in 2012, which hit the top 25 on the Canadian Albums Chart and garnered a 2013 Juno Award nomination for Adult Alternative Album of the Year.

Royal’s music has been featured on TV shows including Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, This is Wonderland and the Food Network’s The Surreal Gourmet and he has shared the stage with some of Canada’s big names including Serena Ryder, Sarah Harmer, Kathleen Edwards and Sarah Slean. In addition to his musical success, Royal is currently pursuing another passion of his: wine. He is currently working towards becoming a Professional Sommelier and will be featured as a special guest at this year’s Okanagan Fall Wine Festival in Kelowna, BC on October 10^th at the Kelowna Community Theatre. He will be presiding over a wine event searching for the Best Wine Taster prior to his concert that evening.
