The Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre Society proudly announces the launch of our 2013/14 Kids’ Series. It’s theatre for the whole family at a great price!
The Kids’ series begins with a performance from Juno Award and Parents Choice Award winning musician Fred Penner on Sunday, October 6th at 2:00pm. Performing timeless hits including The Cat Came Back, Sandwiches and Riders in the Sky, this Canadian children’s entertainment legend will delight audiences of all ages.
America’s Got Talent semifinalists Lightwire Theatre take the stage on Saturday, November 23rd at 11:00am with their visually stunning adaptation of The Ugly Duckling and The Tortoise and the Hare. This special presentation is included as a bonus show in a Kids series subscription. Complete with dazzling visuals, poignant choreography and creative use of music, these classic tales are brought into a new and brilliant light.
On Sunday, January 26th Tears of Joy Theatre brings a fun, family-friendly and steampunk-inspired adaptation of the Jules Verne classic20,000 Leagues Under the Sea at 2:00pm. Featuring some of the most exciting scenes from the book combined with humour and the science and technology imagined by Verne, this underwater adventure will delight children of all ages.
The series concludes on Sunday, February 23rd with an extraordinary adaptation of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf which takes the stage at 2:00 and 4:00pm. Originally created for the National Theatre of Iceland, master puppeteer Bernd Ogrodnik brings hand carved wooden puppets to life in this stunningly picturesque and deeply musical production.
