KeyNote Productions, 99.9 Sun FM and the Kelowna Community Theatre have all come together to produce an emerging artists concert series named the “Rising Sun” which will be launched on September 27 featuring Chilliwack band, “These Kids Wear Crowns”. The Rising Sun concert series aimed at promoting newer emerging artists and groups, will feature one concert every month beginning in September and concluding in June.

Kicking off the series with a “Jumpstart” is the six-piece band, comprised of Alex, Alan, guitarists Joshua “Gypsy” McDaniel and Joe Porter, synthesist/programmer Matt Vink and drummer Josh Mitchinson. “These Kids Wear Crowns”, an electro dance-pop group are celebrating the recent success of their full-length album release “Jumpstart” with various headlining dates booked and are rumored to be crafting a second album to be released at a later date. Heavily influenced by pop and dance music that dominate the charts, this BC-based band is eager to share their “big and infectious” album with the masses.

Lead singer Alex Johnson describes the album as having the same flavour as their previous EP’s but is “[…] more about getting people up off their feet.“ Bassist Alan Poettcker echoes the sentiment by saying “we always said that we wanted our music to have great energy […]. We want everyone in the clubs to get on their feet and dance when they hear our songs played.” And with songs like the hit single and title track Jumpstart, Don’t Sweat it, electro cover of Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance with Somebody, and EP classics Break it Up, Oceans and We All Fall Down, featured on their 11-track debut album, “These Kids” are definitely getting crowds to their feet and pack an enthusiastic musical punch.

Wherever music can be played-blasted from car stereos, on the beach, on the airwaves, at the clubs, Jumpstart is an album to be shared. Described as an “aural energy drink, a strong-arm of happy friends yanking you to join in the fun”, this debut concert for the Rising Sun Concert Series is guaranteed to get people excited about music!
