Taking art to the streets! Well… at least to the sidewalks.
Children and families are invited to help fill the sidewalk between the Kelowna Art Gallery and the Rotary Centre for the Arts with art! Join us for Chalk Walk, a special outdoor Family Sunday, on Sunday, July 28, from 1 to 4 pm.
Participants will be taking inspiration from the Douglas Walker: Other Worlds exhibition on view at the Gallery, and using blue-and-white chalk to fill the sidewalk with imagery around the theme of water. Special kid-friendly tours of Douglas Walker: Other Worlds, which features an enormous 80-foot-long, blue-and-white painting focusing on a whale, will be offered throughout the afternoon.
This special Family Sunday is also in partnership with wildlife-based organization Get to Know, who, for fourteen years, have been connecting hundreds of thousands of young people with nature by encouraging them to “get to know” their wild neighbours. Get to Know staff will be on hand offering other fun activities aimed at raising awareness about the importance of water.
Family Sundays are open to the public each Sunday from 1 to 4 pm. The cost is $4 per participant, and includes Gallery admission. For more information, please visit us online at www.kelownaartgallery.com.
The Gallery would like to acknowledge the generous support of Source Office Furnishings for the Family Sundays program.
