Cranked

The Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre Society proudly presents a public performance of Green Thumb Theatre’s Cranked on Monday, February 18 2013 at 7:00pm at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre.

Green Thumb Theatre is known for their touring shows that explore social issues relevant to the lives of children, youth and young adults. Cranked tells the story of Stan a.k.a. “definition” — a rising freestyle MC who loses it all because of his meth habit.

Stan confronts his demons as he preps for an upcoming competition without the ‘fix’ that has dominated his life. Memories of the highs and the rush of music all collide as he struggles to recapture what he once had. Using spoken word and hip-hop, playwright Michael P. Northey and Green Thumb Theatre offer a dramatic exploration of addiction and drug culture. Music written by Kyprios & Stylust, hip-hop artists from Vancouver.

About the Playwright: Michael graduated acting from Studio 58 in Vancouver in 1995. His acting credits include stage, TV and feature films. Notable stage credits include Mojofor Weatern Theatre Conspiracy and The Overcoat for The Vancouver Playhouse, both of which won multiple Jessie awards. Michael has also written many stage productions, which include: A Dog Called Bitch, Young Offenders – Vancouver Fringe Fest 2004, Reservations For Two, Chiarelli Productions, also Stuck! and This Fringe Venue Is now Being Held Hostage, both produced by his own company Young Offenders.

The Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre would like to thank the following sponsors for their generous support: the British Columbia Arts Council, the Department of Canadian Heritage, the North Okanagan Regional District.
