Vernon Community Art Centre Director Named a BC Arts Champion!

CONGRATULATIONS LYNNE HOSSAY FOR BEING HONOURED WITH THE BC ARTS CHAMPION AWARD

lynneLynne Hossay, Executive Director of the Arts Council of the North Okanagan and the Vernon Community Arts Centre, has recently been nominated and awarded the Arts BC Arts Champion Award.

“The Arts Champion in Community Award is our opportunity to give back to individuals who dedicate themselves to involving and inspiring the members of their communities,” says Sheryl McGraw, Executive Director of ArtsBC. “Their love of the Arts is truly contagious.”

“Lynne Hossay has been actively involved in developing creative opportunities for individuals and families in the Okanagan. Under her direction as Executive Director, the Arts Council of the North Okanagan provides art classes for youth and adults, drop-in programs, fundraising events, community collaborations and member exhibitions. Hossay is also actively involved in the Culture and Arts in Action committee and other community arts initiatives, and pursues a career as a mixed media artist.”

As those involved with the VCAC, ACNO or other art scenes within Vernon know, Lynne is passionate about the arts and her passion coupled with her nurturing spirit, her determined work ethic and her sense of community have allowed her to flourish within the cultural environment in the Okanagan, and to become a leader in the arts. Her many contributions to arts and culture have enhanced not only the landscape as a whole, but have touched the lives of many artists, as she continues to inspire, promote, and encourage everyone to pursue their dreams, to expand their skills, and to explore their own passions and abilities.

Congratulations, Lynne. You indeed are a champion of the arts.
