The Jail Bird Residency Series and The Jail Bird Show, two separate but interconnected creatures.
THE JAIL BIRD RESIDENCY SERIES
The Jail Bird Residency Series is open to artists, in all mediums. An artist in residence at Habitat will be offered studio space and a small budget for one month, during which time he/she will create works for the wall of Habitat.
The artist’s work will be presented at a public reception (The Jail Bird Show) at the end of their session and will be on display for the following month.
Submissions for The Jail Bird Residency Series 1 must be received by email to brit@thehabitat.ca by 5:00pm May 15th, 2012. The artist in residence will be announced on May 16th, 2012 with an opening reception to be held June 29th, 2012 at the first Jail Bird Show.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- Five (5) to eight (8) dated, high-quality JPG submissions demonstrating a consistent body of work
- A short artist bio (100 words or less)
- Propose your vision for the interior of Habitat; how does your medium translate to our walls? (300 words or less)
THE JAIL BIRD SHOW
An opening reception for the artist who has just completed a residency at Habitat, along with the works of a few other finalists.
