Sparkle Party w/Freddy J, KaleidoScape and OHMZ

The Okanagan is quickly becoming the cradle of all things electronic music in Western Canada, with major artists coming to share their experience to crowds in Kelowna’s party scene. Huge artists like Datsik and Excision have emerged from the local scene, effectively putting the Okanagan on the world map. Up until recently, the South Okanagan has lacked all but a fraction of the vibrant energy commonly seen to the north, but one group is working to change that in a big way. PEAK & Superfly look to bring new and exciting music to the Penticton scene, something which hasn’t really been done before in the small South Okanagan town. Now having hosted over ten successful shows at various venues, PEAK & Superfly have become the go-to group to get the party started.

On Friday, Feb 17 P&S had the opportunity to host Alex Carlson, better known as Freddy J. Vibes, for one epic party. The theme was Sparkles, and Penticton came out in droves to hear Freddy J’s unique blend of funk, bass and hiphop. The event was held at BAR ONE Penticton, and Freddy J was accompanied by PEAK & Superfly regular DJs OHMZ and KaleidoScape. The entire night was a high-energy, bright and shiny success that people in the South Okanagan are sure to remember.

As if to prove the strong will of the party scene in Penticton, halfway through the evening some silly person decided to have a laugh and pull the fire alarm… but it didn’t even effect the night. Everyone was outside within minutes, the fire department showed up right away to reset the alarm, and people were back inside in less than 10 minutes. Most will agree, the energy was even better after the alarm fiasco. Penticton, you know how to party!
