Vancouver Island’s premier screenwriting workshop duo heads to Kelowna for one weekend only

January 27th – 29th 2012, West Coast Screenwriting principals, Keith Digby (Young Alexander, Time Exposures) and Brian Paisley (Lies Like Truth, The Great Night of Shiva) will hold a ‘Weekend Blitz’ personalized workshop in Kelowna for aspiring screenwriters and adaptors. Sponsors include the Centre for Arts and Technology (CATO) who will host the event, the Okanagan Media Association and the Okanagan Film Commussion.

In five sessions of what has been described as ‘high-octane teaching’, Brian and Keith take a maximum of nine participants through hands-on sessions in screenwriting structure, character development, creating visual action scenes, and building sequences that grip the audience.
Brian and Keith have been highly praised by professional screenwriter/teacher, John Ward, award-winning Young Adult novelist and TV series writer, Susan Juby, and Anthony Dalton, former President of the Canadian Authors Association.
Keith has been a series writer for TV and has had one sitcom series and five screenplays optioned and one feature made. Centre Film Sales from London, England recently commissioned him to write a feature length script about the (fictional) twin children of Jack the Ripper! He was the adjudicator for last year’s ‘Ozone’ Theatre Festival in Kelowna. Brian’s recent Order of Canada award acknowledges his screenwriting, his teaching (currently in the University of Victoria’s writing department) and his work as founder of the Edmonton Fringe Festival and mentor to fringe festivals across the land. Most recently, Vision TV has commissioned Brian to write a five-part series on the end of the world called, appropriately, Apocalypse When?
