All members of Gallery Vertigo are invited to submit work for our annual members’ exhibit. The theme of the 2011 show is Patterns. Visual art, sculpture, photography, written word – any art that reflects the theme Patterns is welcome. You can interpret the word patterns as broadly or specifically as you like – shadows against a wall, leaves, design on fabric, lines on a face, anything that says patterns to you. Each member who submits work will have at least one piece shown in Gallery Vertigo, more if space permits. Opening night for the exhibit will be Saturday, October 29 from 4 to 6 pm. Candies will be handed out and costumes are encouraged! Please have your submission into Gallery Vertigo by Wednesday October 26th at 4pm. New Members are always welcome.

Is anything ever really random???  It’s funny, but when you think of it, being a creative person is all about breaking free from the normal patterns of society in order to look at things in an entirely different way.  At least, that’s what Edward de Bono said.  It’s like turning the world upside down and shaking it, so that we can see what’s inside.  Carry this thought around with you for a day and see what you come up with because at Gallery Vertigo’s upcoming show, we are asking artists to submit a piece about PATTERNS…

After all, we see patterns all around us: in nature, in conversation, in architecture, in our relationships and in our thoughts.

Wherever there are people there are patterns.  Go wild.  Have fun and show us what you can come up with when you turn the world on its side and think in terms of patterns.
