The Rotary Centre for the Arts is a very diverse building with all kinds of offerings, from courses to concerts, from visual art to dance and music. Our tag line is “Everyone Plays Here” and in some way….most everyone does! Summer brings a very different feel to the building as the theatre slows down and the kid’s camps ramp up!

There are squeals of laughter in each hall and the beautiful airy Atrium is cluttered with  broken, spilled lunch pieces and miscellaneous lost and found objects at the end of most weeks. Now the courses are over, the kids are in the mall buying new supplies and the Atrium is sparkling again with brand new sound and lighting gear.

The adults can take over once again for one big last summer celebration! Although there are drop in Salsa classes every Thursday, it feels right to kick that up a notch and throw open the garage doors of the Atrium to have an actual “Dance”!

There will be no canned music on Saturday August 27^th when Kelowna’s premiere Latin band, Ritmo Caliente, bring in their instruments.  Ritmo Caliente is a five piece band led by Trevor Salloum, a percussionist, author and teacher who has conducted workshops and performed internationally for over 25 years.  He has studied with some of the great masters and is fluent in AFRO-CUBAN; MIDDLE EASTERN & WEST AFRICAN DRUMMING.  Their instrumentation includes vocals, sax, piano, bass and Latin percussion and they will deliver hot sounds from Havana, Puerto Rico, New York and Brazil.

If you don’t know how to salsa, have no fear, there will be professional dance instructors to kick off the event and they’ll even find you a dance partner if you don’t have one!

The RCA Bistro will have food and bevies available as we open up the Atrium and turn up the sizzle.
