“Photographing Lake Country” A new exhibition in the FINA gallery at UBCO
The Lake Country Art Gallery’s summer camp consisted of young residents of Lake Country ranging from seven to thirteen years old. The kids were set loose in the community in a series of facilitated photo-field trips in and around Lake Country. These field trips allowed the participants to collect content and reflect on the multifaceted culture of the Lake Country community.
With the support and guidance from local artists in the community the kids were introduced to a variety of art making techniques. The kids were able to learn new skills in Photography, collage making, gel transfer, Photoshop, and printmaking. They were then able to create and share their vision of Lake Country through a variety of mediums.
“We are so excited to have the opportunity to facilitate an art program for kids at the Lake Country Art Gallery that can engage directly with the Lake Country community.” Petrina McNeil
